The struggle to find good craft beer in Perth is NOT real. We have so many great brewers producing fantastic beers right at our doorstop. Here are some of my favourite breweries in the Perth metro area. You have no excuse –  go out and try some!

Blasta Brewery

Wow. Blasta did big things in 2018. Owner/brewer Steven Russel went from FIFO worker/home brewer to setting up one of the best breweries in Perth in an impressively short time. The “Unleash the Beast NEIPA” was one of my favourite beers in 2018. I strongly suggest you make your way to the brewery in Burswood and make a day of it, because they also dish up some tasty food. They’ve just starting canning their beers, so you can take some home with you or try to find them at your local. When the footy season starts, this is the perfect pre drinking spot.

Petition Beer Corner

Petition Beer Corner source some of the rarest, exclusive and limited release beers in WA. Check their facebook for upcoming events or just rock up on a Friday for after-work drinks and you’ll be sure to find something to suit your tastes. Some previous great events include: “Don’t Go Breaking My Tart” sour tap takeover – 16 taps of sour beers including sours from Brewski, Tilquin, Jolly Pumpkin, Boon and Cantillon. And “Collabosaurus” – their beer week event with collaboration brews from all the best WA brewers. They can also can any of your favourite tap beers so you can take something home with you! Bonus: while you’re here, be sure to check out Petition Wine Bar’s collection of funky natural wines.

The 21st Amendment

A craft beer tap-house located in Leederville. These guys have all the latest and limited releases. You can check their tap list out on Now Tapped.

Otherside Brewery

Otherside have been around for a while. However, their brew house in Myaree is relatively new – opening in May 2018. Their core range includes the Festive Session Ale, Anthem IPA and Harvest Red Ale and can be found in a few venues in Perth, including Luna Cinema in Leederville (craft beer at the movies, how good!). Look out for their experimental beers! Keeping up with the sour craze, their Red Creaming Sour was fantastic! Tart, sour and with an aftertaste blast of red creaming soda. Bonus points: the outside area is dog friendly.

Nowhereman Brewery in Leederville are doing great things. The setting is pretty casual – beer and pizza in an industrial warehouse converted into a pub. I always look forward to their low-production range. Recently enjoyed many of their beers including: Berry Gose Round (a mixed berry gose), Cherry Psycho (a sour cherry IPA brewed with the legends from Eagle Bay Brewing) and the Passion Pop Sour (a passionfruit gose, tasted like a melted frosty fruit). Really looking to the newest release, Aloha F**ckers – Tropical Coconut Sour launching on Friday, 22 February 2019. Get down from 4pm for $20 jugs!

So many! Refuge is up there for a good variety of the latest treats.

    1. Yess! We were there yesterday actually! I updated the photos on my dog friendly pubs post 🙊🙊🙈 I tried the rocky ridge ‘Karl’s date turns sour’. Actually tasted like lemon sherbet.
